Curse
Curse Level or CL is a difficulty modificator and reaches up to five. Consequently, also increasing the amount of Glory you are able to earn in a cycle. The curse levels are often abreviated C0, C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5.
Unlocking
Higher curse levels are unlocked when completing the one before.

History
It used to be possible to increase your Curse Level mid-run, by using the Outposts to build a Bonfire. These are often mentioned having a "+1" or "+2" next to them, referencing the number of Bonfires built, e.g.: C5+2. This was removed in Demo build 63 and replaced with the monster evolution mechanics.
